Summer Horsemanship Program

Age 6-16


Session 1 6/26-6/29         Session 2 7/10-7/13


 Full day program 8am-3:00pm $340, Half day program 8am-12:00pm  $200

      In the full day program each student will get approximately 1 hour riding time per day with a riding instructor some days they may ride for longer.  For the half day program, students ride for 30 minutes per day.  Students work in a private or semi-private setting depending on experience and ability.  Students are not required to have any experience.  The remainder of the time will be spent on educational projects, learning about horse care, horsemanship and crafts.  It will cover grooming, leading, mounting a horse, steering, stopping and riding at the walk and trot.  Advanced riders will do work at the canter as well work building a partnership with their horse.  On Thursdays students will participate in a “game day” on horseback.  In addition to horse projects there will be an opportunity to learn and have hands on experience with other farm animals in the afternoon for full day students.  Animals may include rabbits, chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep and much more. (Farm animals may vary week to week)  You may sign up for multiple weeks as curriculum will be different each week. Flex drop off time is available.

 

 

Art and Horses

Horse have be a focus of art throughout history.  Today horses are a popular in art because of their strength, beauty and grace.  Learn using a couple of different art mediums to draw and create pieces of horse related art.  Use real life horse models and get hands on horse experiences.  Students will also get grooming, petting time of the horses and a short horseback riding lesson if they would like (15 minutes).  Students that are staying from the morning camp are welcome to stay for a supervised ½ hour lunch included at no additional charge (they must bring their own bag lunch).  Open to ages 5 and up.  Program runs Monday-Thursday   Total cost $165

 

 

April Vacation Horse Camp     Ages 5-16 

 

9am-12pm Monday-Thursday     April 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th  

Students will ride for 30 minutes per day.  In case of heavy rain, riding time may be substituted by hands-on horse activities inside the barn.  Please dress for the weather as April weather can be unpredictable.   Students are not required to have any experience.   Students will be doing educational projects, doing horse care, horsemanship and crafts.  It will cover grooming, leading, mounting a horse, steering, stopping and riding at the walk and trot. On Thursday students will participate in a “game day” on horseback.  Students must wear long pants and boots with a heel.  They may bring a helmet with them if they have one.  Loaner helmets will be available for students that do not have their own.  Students will not be allowed to ride in sneakers.  Students are to bring a water bottle and a snack that does not contain nuts.    Total cost $190

Adult and child group for toddlers.  Cost if for one adult and one child.  Children and their adult will learn how to groom and work around our mini horse “Sneakers”.  Children will then get to have a pony ride or horse ride while their adults walks next to them.  Children will learn stretching, balancing and gain confidence while riding a horse.  Children must wear boots with a heel and bring a helmet.

Program runs 4:30-5:30.  The pony pals program is the first riding program in the area specifically tailored for preschoolers and kindergarten aged children.  Students will learn grooming by brushing our miniature horse Sneakers. They will then get to ride a horse or pony while attached to a lead line. Children will do balancing exercises on horseback. They will learn to steer and stop a horse.  Children will finish the day with a horse related project, craft or story time.   This program is great introduction to horses and gets children comfortable and confident around horses.   Students must wear long pants and boots with a heel.  They may bring a helmet with them if they have one.  Loaner helmets will be available for students who do not have their own.

The Saddle club program is a great opportunity for children that want to learn more about horses than just riding.  Students get hands on experience working with horses as well as learn to ride with their peers.  Program includes hands on education program, learning to brush and tack up horses, leading horses, feeding and horse care.  Students ride for approximately 30 minutes. This program is a great introduction for the beginner rider or a great supplement to private lessons for the more advanced rider.  Students must wear long pants and boots with a heel.  They may bring a helmet with them if they have one.  Loaner helmets will be available for students that do not have their own.  Students will not allowed to ride in sneakers.
